A 31 year old Man in Ntcheu is in Police custody for allegedly defiling a 11 year-old step daughter which is contrary to section 160, Sub Section (a) to (g) of the Penal Code.
Ntcheu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Hastings Chigalu confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Dankeni Magwembele.
According to Chigalu, Magwembele defiled the girl on the night of August 2 after his wife had gone to bed.
Chigalu said on the material day, Magwembele told his wife that he was feeling cold as such he remained in the kitchen room and later went to the room of her step daughter where she defiled her twice.
“After waiting for sometime Dyna the wife to the suspect followed him to the Kitchen but she was surprised to note that her husband was not there. This forced the wife to go in the daughter’s room where she caught her husband red handed”, he said.
Chigwembele was arrested at the same spot by the Community Police after shouting for help and handed to Ntcheu police.
Gwembele hails from Mfulanjovu Village in the area of Traditional Authority Msanama in Balaka.
