President Peter Muthalika is slowly fulfilling most of his manifesto promises as the much doubted Iron sheets and cement programme rolls out with registration of beneficiaries in Liwonde and part of Ntcheu district.

This development comes momentarily after President Peter Mutharika pledged to reduce the price of iron sheets and cement in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) manifesto during the campaign period.

Ntcheu District Commissioner (DC) Charles Makanga is quoted in the media saying registration for the programme has started in Liwonde and other parts of Ntcheu district, and that people are to register their names through the
Chiefs who will be trusted to spot the beneficiaries.

Makanga said the beneficiaries will only be allowed buy Thirty (30) iron sheets and thirty (30) bags of cement and that the person should be ready to pay50 percent of the payment as the other 50 percent will be paid by Malawi government”, said Makanga.

He added that the government will only allow those who are building houses with burned bricks to access this initiative.
