Police in Ntcheu on Saturday recovered a vehicle which was stolen on Friday night in Lilongwe and in the process arrested one of the suspects at Biliwiri along the Dedza-Ntcheu M1 Road.

Ntcheu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Hastings Chigalu confirmed of the development and identified the suspect as Ivan Malenga, 26.

According to the police, Malenga accompanied by a Friend hired the vehicle, Toyota Carina, registration number BLK 1981 from Masintha to Lilongwe Old Town.

“Upon reaching Lilongwe Old Town, the suspects asked the driver of the vehicle to proceeded with them to Chisapo 1 where one of the suspects stabbed the driver in the shoulder and later dumped him in Mchesi Township,” said Chigalu.

He said the suspects then drove away but upon arrival at Biliwiri, the vehicle run out of fuel and that was the time that Biliwiri Border Police officers approached the suspects who failed to tender details of the vehicle before the law enforcers.

Malenga who hails from Helemani Village in the area of Traditional Authority Changata in Thyolo is expected to appear before court very soon
