President Professor Author Peter Mutharika has described the first ever African Leaders Summit held in United States of America as a successful.

Mutharika disclosed this upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe on Sunday.

“The Summit was a successful one as Malawi has benefited a lot in terms of lobbying foreign investments as well as bilateral relationships with other countries,” Mutharika said.

He could not divulge much information regarding his trip to the US as State House Office would call for a press conference on Tuesday, 12 August, 2014 at Kamuzu Palace where, among other things, the President will read out the communique and explain in detail what transpired during meeting.

Vice President Saulos Chilima and Cabinet Ministers welcomed Mutharika at the airport.

The summit attracted about 40 African Leaders.
