Iran, Malawi planning to promote agricultural ties

Iranian and Malawian officials voiced their enthusiasm for boosting agricultural cooperation and exchange of experiences.
Speaking in a meeting with Director of Gilan province Tobacco Company Siavash Amini on Sunday, Malawian Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Allan Chiyembekeza underlined that his country is keen to develop cooperation with Iran in the field of processing tobacco and produce cigarettes.
He further added that the Malawian president attaches great importance to expansion of ties with Iran.
Amini, for his part, underscored that his company can play a significant role in transfer of technological know-how to the African state.
Iran has striven hard to maximize relations with the African continent.
Iran is also an observing member of the AU and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.
The country is considered as one of the AU’s strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
