A 34-year old Deputy Headmaster for Kambulauzi Primary School is in police custody in Nkhotakota for allegedly defiling and impregnating a-15-year-old pupil.
Nkhunga Police spokesperson Labani Makalani where the suspect is being kept confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Edmond Chirwa.
According to Makalani, the teacher is suspected to have defiled the standard seven pupil between April and June this year.
The suspect threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the matter to anyone, but the girl disclosed the issue to her mother after she suspected that the girl was pregnant.
The suspect will appear in Court soon to answer defilement charges.
Chirwa hails from Zondwayo village, Traditional Authority Mzikubola in Mzimba.
