Malawians who welcomed President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika from SADC summit at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe on Tuesday could not believe their eyes when they saw the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) vocalist, Jessie Kabwila disembarking from a chartered Presidential jet that Mutharika used.
When approached for comment, Kabwila said she was surprised that the media was not aware of the development.
Speaking in an interview with the press, Presidential Press Secretary, Fredrick Ndala said that Kabwila’s presence in the chartered presidential jet was because she was the guest of President Mutharika.
While in Zimbabwe, FaceofMalawi spotted Kabwila sneaking into Mutharika’s hotel resort of Victoria Falls where the two held a closed door meeting.
The meeting, lasted just over half an hour.
MCP through its spokesperson has on several times blasted the outcome of the May 20 tripartite election which saw Mutharika being declared as a winner.
MCP claimed that Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) rigged the election and called for a re-count.
