President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Thursday joined 15 other Heads of States in African in signing a Golden Ball, showing a total commitment in fighting HIV.

The function was held at Sanjika palace barely hours after opening the 11th Agricultural Fair at Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds in Blantyre.

The function was graced by Ghanaian Football Captain Asamoah Gyan who is the Ambassador for ‘protect the goal ‘campaign.

In his speech, President Mutharika urged all Malawians to join hands using all available means and resources to reach out to the younger generation in order to protect them from HIV and Aids.

Gyan is in the country to support the global ‘protect the goal’ campaign which is among a series of activities the National Aids Commission (NAC), UNAIDS and their partners are undertaking to reinvigorate HIV prevention in Malawi.

The campaign also seeks to contribute to the three zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDs-related death and in particular the drive towards zero infection through the galvanizing power of football.
