Malawi has been comparatively slow to embrace the internet and e-commerce in general
Historical factors behind this have been limited disposable income, poor internet infrastructure (broadband penetration), expensive data, expensive hardware & low trust in e- commerce fulfillment. Geo-demographically we have not suited e-commerce (large land mass, with poor logistics infrastructure)
All of the above factors are moving in the right direction: increasing, cheaper broadband penetration, rapid increase in smart mobile devices, more trust in e-commerce. All indicators is that this will improve both steadily and exponentially in years to come.
But that has not stopped energetic Malawians from coming up with an online payment solution which just a fragment of service they offer.
Sky Services offers assistance with all sorts of transactions, from direct online purchases, diaspora services to mobile/cloud technologies just to mention a few.
Speaking to our reporter, Sky Services’ head of operations, Elijah Tepeka said ‘in every partnership there is growth and through valuable feedback from people like you, we have created payment gateway solutions and value-added products that fit the full scope of e-commerce requirements.
We take care of the complexity and simplify processes so that you can fast-track your business. Easy-to-use, quick and relevant merchant solutions, partnered with customer service that goes the distance – this is the Sky Services way.”
“A payment gateway is the responsible party that communicates directly with various banks and authorizes transactions. This means that gateways such as Sky Services, allow you and millions of internet users to shop online conveniently, efficiently and safely. Our promise to you is this: safe, secure and reliable e-commerce environments that have been tried, tested and developed over many years.
Continual risk assessment in the virtual marketplace helps us stay up to date with the latest technologies, so you can be confident that your online transactions are always in good hands”, he continued.
The company has recently launched a new product called Virtual Credit Card. The product allows you to apply and get your own credit card even without having a bank account with any bank.
