President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has called upon all Malawians in the country to remain united and move the country forward.
Mutharika’s call comes, following former ruling People’s Party (PP) Provincial Chairman for the north Christopher Mzomela Ngwira advocating for formation of Nyika Republic- which will allow Northern Region to be States on its own.
In a statement posted on his Facebook Page, Mutharika said Malawians should not allow any one to divide them for personal gains.
“Let us all stand together in unity and work together as One Nation One Malawi. We should not allow anybody to divide our country. There should not be any divisions among the regions. If there are any problems or differences let’s sit down together and resolve the issues amicably to move our country forward.
“All political parties, religious groups need to agree and resolve all our differences. If we have issues or if we quarreled in the past let us forgive and forget and move forward”, reads the statement in part.
The call for a formation of a standalone State has received heavy criticism from various stakeholders rebelling it a move to divide Malawians.
