A 26 year old woman has died in Lilongwe after armed robbers hacked her while on her way to Nkhoma Mission Hospital on Saturday night.
Lilongwe police spokesperson Sub Inspector Kingsley Dandaula identified the deceased as Faith Chembezi.
“Faith Chembezi was working as a Medical Assistant at Nkhoma Mission Hospital and was allegedly attacked by unknown criminals on Saturday night when she went to visit a friend within the hospital campus,” said Dandaula.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a workmate to Chembezi said the lady was apparently attacked on her way to visiting her boyfriend within hospital campus.
“She bled from where she was attacked all the way to her boyfriend’s room. She had a big cut on the right ear, cuts on the face and a broken right arm,” said the workmate
The body is in the morgue at Kamuzu Central Hospital awaiting post-mortem.
The killing of Chembezi comes hot on the heels of another of a watch guard at area 36 also in Lilongwe and at a time crime has generally shot in Malawi.
