President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Sunday refuted accessions hovering around saying since he assumed the high office he has been firing some civil servants anyhow.
Mutharika said this was just a normal re-allocation of some senior government officials to ensure a vibrant civil service.
He said this during a thanks-giving rally held at Masintha ground in Lilongwe.
“Let me make this clear to people that I have never fired any civil servant since I took over government as some people are speculating. This is a normal re-allocation of some officers to ensure that they are given their right positions.
“Some government officials are already out of this country on study tours to learn how other countries are implementing civil service reform programmes which will in turn help us as government,” he said.
Mutharika also said that government is currently carrying out investigations into the cashgate scandal which led to loss of billions of money at Capital Hill and that some civil servants were being re-allocated to other Ministries and Department to pave way for smooth investigations into the matter.
