It never rain but pours on one of the football power houses in the country Silver Strikers.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has charged Silver Strikers improper conduct after their supporters invaded the pitch to celebrate the team’s win against Azam Tigers during Standard Bank Cup finals two weeks ago.

The game was played at Civo Stadium and it was grace by Ghanaian Captain Asamoah Gyan
FAM’s Competitions Manager Gomezgani Zakazaka confirmed of the development in an interview with the Press.

He said the supporters damaged the Stadium’s fence as well as destroying the parameter banners of Standard Bank.

“Silver Strikers are guilty for improper conduct after their supporters invaded the pitch and destroyed the fence as well as the parameter banners equivalent to 1.2 million kwacha.

“Under article 25 of the Standard Bank Cup rules and regulations, the organizers have got the mandate to punish any team which is guilty of improper conduct. We have given them 48 hours to appeal on the charges”, said Zakazaka.

When approached for comment, General Secretary for Silver Strikers, Mike Tembo said that they will respond to the charges after the team’s main executive meeting.
