Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is also leader of opposition in Parliament has asked the Democratic Progressive Party regime to swiftly deal with insecurity in the country.

Chakwera’s remarks comes just barely days after armed robbers invaded Mudi House- official residence of the Country’s Vice President Saulosi Chilima.

Chakwera said this in Parliament on Wednesday when he was adding his voice on the 2014/15 national budget presented by Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe.

“It [insecurity] is increasingly worrisome. People are being hacked to death in their own homes and we have heard a case of a High Court judge being abducted in broad daylight.

“We need action against robbers who are busy terrorizing neighbourhoods and hitting hard on businesses and hard-working citizen,” he said.

He however, thanked the Minister of the Finance for increasing on the budget allocation to the police, saying this will help the police to carry out its operations smoothly.

Since President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika assumed the high office the country has seen an increase in crime rate in the country.
