Former President Dr Joyce Banda over the Weekend joined people from all works of life to graced the launch of Ndirande Anglican Voices’ fifth album titled ‘Zimandikwanira’ at Robins Park in Blantyre where she donated K0.5 million.
Banda also pledged 100 bags of maize and undisclosed number of bales of sugar and blankets towards Ndirande Anglican Voices’ charity cause.
Speaking after the donation, Banda vowed to continue helping the needy in the country.
On his part, Ndirande Anglican Voices’ lead singer Dennis Kalimbe said the grouping was so grateful with the gesture shown by Banda and he urged other well wishers to follow suit.
The launch which was partly organized to raise funds to assist Mangochi Hospital also saw the presence of Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa-Malawi) chairperson Anthony Kasunda who also donated K20,000.
The launch was spiced up by performances from Ndirande Anglican Melodies, Neligo Women’s Choir, Gloria Manong’a, Mada Ngoleka, Khama Khwiliro, King James Phiri, Thocco Katimba and Ethel Kamwendo.
