A 65-year-old woman is in police custody in Karonga for allegedly possessing medical drugs worthy K20 million without license.
Kalonga police Public Relations Officer Enock Rivason confirmed of the arrest in an interview and identified the suspect as Christina Mbaraswa.
According to Rivason, the suspect was arrested on Saturday on her way to Mzuzu.
“On Saturday police conducted a snap road block at Luwali. In the process of searching a certain minibus we found a bag containing different types of drugs but the woman did not have any license that allow her to have the medicine,” Rivason told the press.
He also disclosed that the suspect had 16 cartons of Hemocue 301which contain four bottles each, six cartons of Quinine containing 10 ampouls each, 14 Precise surgical suture cartons containing 12 units each, Microbar three bottles and Super ulstar two bottles.
Mbaraswa hails from Mwafilaso village in the area of paramount chief Kyungu in Karonga district.
