A man in police custody in Salima district for impregnating his two biological daughters.

The suspect, Zenus Chilembwe of Machaka village T/A Kaphuka in Dedza was granted the right to take custody of the two daughters after the marriage with their mother failed in 2009

FOM speaking to Salima Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Gift Chitowe said the two sisters aged 20 and 18 respectively (names withheld) on Saturday September 13 decided to break silence and inform Salima police on the matter for intervention.

The police officer said the two girls reported that they have been sleeping with their father for a very longtime without speaking out to authorities because they were threatened to be killed once they reveal their sexual affair with him to any person or any authority.

But this time, according to the police officer, the two girls decided to report on the matter saying they are fed up of having sexual affair with their father and keep secret of the man who has impregnated them.

Sergeant Chitowe said the man is expected to answer charges of incest on Tuesday September 15 at Salima First Grade Magistrate Court.

Incest offence attracts a maximum sentence of 14 years of imprisonment.
