The appointment of a new Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director awaits the return of President Peter Mutharika from the UN General Assembly in the US, officials say.
It is now close to a month since Justice Rezine Mzikamanda was ejected from the position and has since returned to the legal bar.
The general public and concerned stakeholders have been mounting pressure on the government to choose another ACB boss saying the vacancy might compromise operations of the bureau.
Director of Information in the Ministry of Information, Gerald Viola told Capital FM, that it was the President’s prerogative to appoint people to head such institutions.
Earlier, legal analysts faulted Mutharika for dismissing Mzikamanda without having an immediate replacement.
