The National Assembly on Monday passed the 2014/15 national budget with amendments to some votes.

The 737billion kwacha budget has now been approved and adopted by the national assembly.

Some of the votes that have been amended are those of the National Assembly from 6 to 7 billion.

Ministry of Health had an initial allocation of K62.5 billion as presented in the House by the Minister of Finance Goodall Gondwe in the budget statement but now the approved amount is 50.7 billion kwacha.

The National finance committee vote was reduced from 37.5 billion to 33.3 billion kwacha. But in this vote constituency development fund has been raised from 7 to 9 million per constituency.

The amendments have also affected the total budget figure which was at about 743 billion kwacha and now the approved figure has come down to K737 billion.

The house has since adjourned and members will continue meeting on Monday where the appropriation and other government bills will be tabled in the house.
