Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody four suspected robbers, who broke into a warehouse at Kaphiri location this week.
The four were in a gang of 20 robbers who were found loading bags of groundnuts into a HINO Van registration number MZ 1942 at night.
According to the Lilongwe Police publicist, Kingsley Dandaula, the suspects broke into the warehouse and stole 90 bags of groundnuts before the police went to the scene.
The warehouse belongs to Burundian national, Emanuel Sendekeya and was robbed last week.
Dandaula suspects that the robbers might have gotten access into the building with the help of the warehouse’s security guard, who had disappeared during the robbery and since after.
One of the suspects identified as Chimwemwe Odala was shot in the thigh while attempting to escape and is admitted to Kamuzu Central Hospital for treatment.
