A-38-year old Woman is in Police custody in Mchinji district for allegedly killing her husband.
The district police spokesperson Moses Nyirenda confirmed of the development in an interview and identified the suspect as Alefa Kaliya.
Nyirenda told Malawi News Agency that Alefa hit her husband with a hoe in the head at night, an action which let her husband lose a lot of blood.
He said police got the information from the villagers who were told by Alefa’s children that her mother had hit her husband with a hoe in the heard.
“When we heard the news we rushed to place and found Victor Mangani unconscious because he lost a lot of blood. We took him to Mikundi Health Centre for medical assistance but unfortunately the doctors said we had brought an already dead person,” said Nyirenda
Police are yet to establish the reason as to why Kaliya decided to hit her husband with a hoe.
Kaliya hails from Chanza Village, T/A Malili in Lilongwe district and the deceased hails from Katawa Village T/A Mduwa in Mchinji district.
