Former President Dr. Joyce Banda through her lawyer has made an application to Zomba High Court to join Oswald Lutepo’s money laundering case as an interested party.

Banda made the application in Zomba during the hearing of a money laundering case which resumed today after a month break.

During the last seating, in September 4, 2014, Zomba High Court granted Lutepo access to Banda’s and former budget director Paul Mphwiyo call logs for fair trial.

In a move to block this, Banda has obtained an injunction to restrain the release of the call logs and at the same time she has made an application join the case.

Meanwhile the Court is expected to adjourn the case to a later date.

Apart from money laundering charges, Lutepo is also answering perjury charges and was recently arrested on charges of the attempted murder of Mphwiyo, that took place on September 13 last year.
