
Malawi speaking to International Monetary Fund to resolve budget deficit

Malawi has approached the International Monetary Fund to bankroll its budget deficit. The country recently passed a zero aid budget of 1.8 billion dollars, but has been left with a shortfall of 414 million dollars. Donor funding used to account for 40% of the country’s budget but was recently pulled back following a corruption scandal within government.
