Malawians have to bury their dream of seeing Jamaican reggae artist Luciano performing live in the capital Lilongwe as earlier announced.
Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that the singer has called off his trip to Africa following warnings by Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson that entertainers should avoid travel to Ebola-affected countries of West Africa.
According to information posted at The Jamaica Observer, the artist was also compelled to call off his plans due to his own research on the highly contagious and deadly disease.
“I have been appealing to persons including entertainers to avoid non-essential travel to the Ebola affected countries in West Africa. If they still decide to go, our actions may have to include quarantining persons,” Ferguson said in a release.
Luciano was expected to leave the island on Saturday for performances in Malawi, South Africa, Ghana and Zimbabwe.
His show in Malawi was scheduled for October 19, 2014 in Lilongwe at Lilongwe golf club where he was expected to share the stage with Chileka boys the Black missionaries, Blasto, and Trumel among others.
