Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that National Aids Commission (NAC) Executive Director Thomas Bisika has been sent on forced leave by the government, to pave way for investigations.

Reasons for the forced leave have not been disclosed.

NAC executive board recommended the measure on Tuesday during the meeting held in Lilongwe.

“We received communication from the NAC board that Bisika should be on a month-long leave. The reasons they gave are that he is being investigated on some issues in relation to his line of work and we thought it wise to suspend him until the investigations are over”, Chief Secretary George Mkondiwa was quoted in the Nation Newspaper.

Bisika confirmed of the development in an interview.

Before joining NAC, Bisika worked at the World Health Organisation (WHO) based in Abuja, Nigeria and at United Nations Population Fund as programme specialist.
