Following scabies outbreak, government has temporarily closed Umbwi secondary school for a week to find ways of dealing with the epidemic.

Dedza District Education Manager Billy Banda confirmed of the development in an interview with the State controlled media [MBC 1].

In his speech said his office received a communication from the ministry of education to close the school for health officials to carry out sanitation activities and deal with outbreak of the scourge.

Banda noted that students have been sent home to control further spread of the scabies and official from ministry of education are coming to access the seriousness of the situation

Currently over 30 students have been affected by the outbreak especially girls, health officially said the outbreak could have been culminated by some students and poor sanitations.
