On Wednesday President Arthur Peter Mutharika had an audience with former president Bakili Muluzi at Sanjika Palace where the former president briefed President Mutharika on his assignment in Swaziland as a Special Envoy of the Commonwealth Secretary General.

Muluzi told journalist at Sanjika Palace soon after the meeting that said there was need for the kingdom nation to be within the regional groupings like the Commonwealth, Sadc and the African Union.

The [Commonwealth] Secretary General appointed me as his special envoy and I briefed President Mutharika and I am very happy that he is very supportive of my mission in Swaziland,” he said.

State House press office said Muluzi and Mutharika had fruitful discussions.

State House Press Office further revealed that Mutharika will on Thursday host a luncheon to all presidential candidates who contested in the May 20 2014 elections.

The luncheon is expected to start at 12 noon at Sanjika Palace in the country’s commercial city of Blantyre.

While on Friday, Mutharika will preside over the installation ceremony of Chief Ngongoliwa as Traditional Authority Ngongoliwa in Thyolo district.

In later in the day, Mutharika will be the Guest of Honour at a fundraising dinner dance for Mulhakho wa Alhomwe at College of Medicine Sports Complex in Blantyre. The State President is expected to arrive at the venue at 6:30 pm.
