A-17-year old boy is in Police custody in Lilongwe for allegedly murdering a girl known only as Chifundo at Chinsapo 2 Township near Otata Bottle store in Lilongwe.
Lilongwe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) Constable Maggie Selemani confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Rogers Yasin.
According to Selemani, Chifundo worked as a Barmaid in one of the bars at Chinsapo and had a love affair with the suspect but had an argument on the night of the incidence.
“It was on October 10, 2014 at around 11.00 pm, when the two had some argument that led into a fight and in the process the suspect pulled out a sharp object and stabbed Chifundo non the left side of her chest,” said Selemani.
She said hospital reports indicated that she died due to cardiac arrest which was enhanced by the stabbed deep wound.
The suspect will appear in court soon to answer murder charges contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
Yasin hails from Nsewa Village in Traditional Authority Malili in Lilongwe.
