Malawi’s dream of qualifying to the 2015 African Cup of Nation to be played in Morocco have suffered a setback following 3-0 defeat at the hands of Algeria late last night.
The lose comes barely days after the team also went down 2-0 to the same time at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
Young Chimodzi made few changes to the squad that featured in the first leg with Moyale Barracks goalkeeper McDonald Harawa, whose performance has raised eyebrows, replaced by Mighty Wanderers’ Richard Chipuwa.
Malawi made changes in the starting line-up with Moyale Barracks goalkeeper McDonald Harawa, whose performance has raised eyebrows, replaced by Mighty Wanderers’ Richard Chipuwa.
Bullets Defender Bashir Maunde was also replaced for Civo’s John Lanjesi and Phillip Masiye got the nod upfront to partner Atusaye Nyondo.
Algeria continued from where they left in the first leg at Kamuzu Stadium pressing the flames from left and light and no wonder Algeria got an a lead through Yacine Brahimi.
As this was not enough Algeria increased the lead close to half time through Riyad Mahrez who plays for English Premier League side Leicester City.
At the full time the game ended 3-0 in favour of the Algerians. In the same group B, Mali went down to Ethiopia 3-2.
This means Malawi has slide down to the bottom of group B.
