A 38-year-old woman is in Police custody in Ntcheu for allegedly being suspected to have murdered her husband on Saturday night in a fight which erupted between the two.

Ntcheu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Hastings Chigalu confirmed of the development and identified the suspect as Leness Dauson.

According to Chigalu, during it is alleged that the suspect pulled her husband’s private parts and hit him with a brick on the forehead.

“The deceased, Lenard Square, 41, had his private parts hanging from their original positions, he had also sustained I deep cut on his forehead,” said Chigalu.

Chigalu said according to a statement recorded from the suspect, the fight erupted after the suspect had confronted the deceased to minimise his beer drinking habit and concentrate on house chores.

“Dauson said her late husband had no time to roof his family’s house and that on the material day of the incident the house was leaking heavily due to heavy rains,” said Chigalu.

Chigalu said postmortem conducted at Ntcheu District Hospital revealed that Square died due to fractured skull and internal bleeding.

He said Dauson faces charges of murder which is centrally to Section 209 of the Penal Code and will soon be taken to court.

The couple had been married for 20 years and has eight children.

Dauson hails from Kadzungu Village in the area of Traditional Authority Masasa in Ntcheu.
