The Malawi Netball team, the Queens, are expected to go into camp on Thursday in readiness for the Fast Five Series in New Zealand this November.

On Monday, the Netball Association of Malawi-NAM released a 15-member squad, which include Mwayi Kumwenda who plays for Tactix in New Zealand.

However, for the first time, MTL Queens has contributed only one player, while Diamonds and Tigresses have dominated the squad with four players each.

Civonets have three players, while Blue Eagles have contributed two players.

Players, who have made it into the squad are Mwayi Kumwenda, Sindi Simutowe, Jane Chimaliro, Grace Chizungulire, Cecilia Mtukule, Takondwa Lwazi, Bridget Kumwenda, Tina Kamzati , Lissie Akidu, Caroline Ngwira, Towera Vinkhumbo, Grace Mhango, Lauren Ngwira, Beauty Nyangulu and Martha Dambo.

The only surprising names missing in the squad are that of Joana Kachilika and Joyce Mvula.

Kachilika, who plays for MTL Queens, has been regular player for the Queens as well as Mvula.

Meanwhile, NAM general secretary Caro Bapu has said their association has written Malawi National Council of Sports seeking for funding to enable the team prepare fully for the World Netball Series.

Bapu said they need K15 million to meet expenses.
