The Chinese Government through its Ambassador to Malawi Zhang Qingyang on Thursday donated medical drugs and equipment worth K150 million to the Government of Malawi.
The medical drugs will be distributed to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe and Mzuzu Central Hospital (MCH).
Minister of Health Jean Kalirani received the consignment on behalf of the Malawi Government on a ceremony held at the Chinese Ambassador’s residence in Lilongwe.
The donated equipment included the electrocardiograph, pulse blood oxygen unit, electric aspirators, X-ray equipment, infant incubators, consolidated operating table pregnancy test strips, malaria blood test equipment, stretchers vehicles, anesthesia parcel, aneroid manometers, and many other medical gears.
In his speech, Zhang pledged that China will continue to keep in close contact with Malawi to expand cooperation in health.
On her part, Kalirani hails the Chinese government for the donation, saying the donation will help to improve the quality of care to patients.
