United Kingdom government has refused to resume helping Malawi with donor aid by stating that it will only continue once a full cashgate audit report dating back to 2006 has been completed.

President Mutharika was shot with the warning as his recent closeness to fomer president Bakili Muluzi means he wants to drop the former leader’s 84 corruptions cases.

According to a source inside the state house revealed that UK High Commission representative met Mutharika at sanjika Palace he conveyed the message from Prime Minister David Cameron.

“The donors are worried because the President seems to have fallen victim of the UDF/DPP marriage such that he is forgetting Bakili Muluzi’s corruption cases. They were just expressing displeasure at any impending clemency on the former President,” said the source.

Britain has demanded that Cashgate cases be taken as back as 2005 coupled with serious probing of $12 million of donor money that Muluzi stashed into his account.

Just last month, Germany also said they will not return with their aid only after government gets to the bottom of the K92 billion of public money that ended in Bingu wa Mutharika’s personal accounts.

Germany is funding a forensic audit into the K92 billion sagas.

The source said Mutharika plans to hold an inner circle meeting sometime this week to discuss Britain’s demands.
