A 44 year old man is battling for his life in Mzimba District Hospital after being chopped off his private parts.

Northern Region Police spokesman Maurice Chapola confirmed of the development and identified the suspect Village Headman Moses Shaba 40, of T/A Mabulabo and the victim as Greyward Mseteka.

According to the police, during the fateful day the suspect and his accomplice went with victim to a drinking spree in the same area where they spent some hours soothing their thorax win beer

“Later on, they reportedly left the pub and went to the house of the second suspect where they had agreed to spend a night. It all started there with the suspects manhandling the victim. One of the suspects reportedly beat the victim with a wooden stick resulting to the unconscious of the victim. The two went ahead to cut off his private parts using a sharp knife before setting the house ablaze,” said Chapola.

Mother to the second suspect who stays near the scene of crime reportedly noted smoke accompanied by huge flames. She alerted the villagers who rushed to the house and managed to rescue the victim who was lying in agony in a pool of blood at the bedroom.

He narrated the whole ordeal of his fate.

The victim was hospitalized at the district hospital that very same night.

The police and members of the community went on a search for the suspects and managed to apprehend the first suspect while investigations are still underway to truck down his accomplice.

Shaba has been charged with an offence of grievous harm which infringes section 238 of the penal code.

Mtseteka hails from Chimbalala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mabulabo in Mzimba.
