Malawi state President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika on Wednesday paid tribute to his dear departed mother, grandparents and relatives at Kutumula Village in the area of Traditional Authority Makwangwala in Ntcheu.

Speaking during the tombstone unveiling Mutharika said: “Though decades have gone by, I still feel the closeness of their presence and my heart is filled with tender emotions as I recollect the many sacrifices they made to enrich my heart and instruct my mind. All that I have achieved and what I am today is because of their influence, and I shall forever remain grateful.”

May their souls rest in peace till we meet again.

In his remarks, Senior Chief Makwangwala said the President had shown that he is a family man who respected his deceased relatives.

The unveiled tombstones in Ntcheu are those for Helen Thom Chingwalu, mother to The State President, Alesi Chingwalu grandmother to the State President, Duwa Chingwalu grandfather to the State President and Julius Chingwalu uncle to the State President.

Mutharikaalso attended a tombstone unveiling in Balaka for Eluby Thom Mutharika twin sister to the Late Professor Bingu wa Mutharika.
