Malawi Council for the Handicapped (MACOHA) Executive Director Peter Ngomwa has hailed NBS Bank for its donation, saying the donation will help to ease some of the challenges that the institution faces when training physically challenged students.
Ngomwa said this on Monday after receiving workshop equipment worth K10 million from NBS Bank.
In his speech, Ngomwa said the institution is failing to train more students because most of its equipment used are not functioning.
On his part, NBS Executive Officer Bernadette Mandoloma said they chose MACOHA because of its clear drive in helping men and women with disabilities.
Some of the donated equipment included welding machines, leather sewing machines, tool boxes, heavy pipe bending machines, press drill machines, gas cinders, T-squares and drawing.
MACOHA trains both physically challenged and able individuals in various professions that include metalwork, woodwork, tailoring, agriculture and refrigeration.
The institution has so far trained more than 3 172 individuals who are currently contributing to national development.
