Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has added his voice on the conduct of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who ignored him during the official opening of the HTD’s Abdul Majid Motor City in Blantyre.
It is reported that President Mutharika ignored Chakwera twice during the function.
But State House statement attributed Mutharika’s failure to recognize Chakwera due to Physical burrier.
While confirming that Mutharika did not give him a handshake, Chakwera said he was not shaken by the move taken by Mutharika.
“I am not after personal recognition”, said Chakwera.
Added Chakwera: ” I am very pleased that I honoured the invitation. And I do not believe in petty politics so it’s unfortunate that happened in that way. I respect the office of Presidency from day one”.
MCP came second in the controversial May 20 tripartite election which saw the Democratic progressive Party (DPP) ascending to the high office.
