Reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that former budget director Paul Mphwiyo has been taken ill and has since been taken to hospital for a heart problem.
It is reported that Mphwiyo fail sick on Saturday.
Mphwiyo was arrested on Friday along with two others by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in conjunction with Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) on charges bordering on tax evasion.
The other two are businessperson Shiraz Ferreira and Nelson Johannes Kauwa.
This is the second arrest for Mphwiyo who is answering charges of theft and money laundering in the on-going cashagate scandal which led to donor aid suspension, forcing the country to adopt Zero Aid Budget.
Since the scam came to light in September last year following the shooting of Mphwiyo, only two cases involving principal Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Tressa Namanthanga Senzani and Accountant Assistant to Government Victor Sithole have been completed.
