Olivier Giroud scored two magnificent goals against Alan Pardew’s Newcastle United as he continues his encouraging return from an ankle injury that saw him miss most of the 1st half of the season. Arsenal opened the scoring as Giroud rose above Newcastle defenders to power home a header into the far corner in the 15th minute. The goal came as a result of a simple one-two with Alexis Sanchez claiming the assist.
Danny Welbeck’s goal just a minute later was disallowed with referee Lee Mason blowing his whidtle for a foul on Janmaat. Santi Carzola made it 2-0 in the 55th minute with a delightful chip over the Alnwick the Newcastle keeper. Another Sanchez assist!
Giroud found his scoring boots punishing Newcastle with a neat goal at the near post on the 58th minute mark. Perez pulled one back for Newcastle in the 63rd minute but it was too little too late as Arsene Wenger’s team maintined composure to see off the game with Santi Carzola killing any hopes Newcastle United may have had with a penalty taken straight down the middle in the 89th minute.
