Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that State House has expelled 51 Presidential guards from its premises for unknown reason.
The firing of the Presidential guards comes barely three months after the State House fired President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s aide-de-camp (ADC) lieutenant colonel Fostino Gunda-Phiri and sent him back to the Malawi Defence Force (MDF).
National Police Spokesperson Rhoda Manjolo confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country [Nation Newspaper], saying the transfer is normal.
Manjolo said the transferred guards would be reassigned to perform other duties in various work stations nationwide.
Effort to talk to director general of State Residences Peter Mukhito proved futile as his mobile phone was not available.
Since President Mutharika ascended to the high office on May 20, 2014 firing of State House workers has been so common with the first casualties being Presidential Press Secretary Fredrick Ndala who was accused of swindling money meant for journalist.
Ndala’s firing also followed the firing of Acting Presidential Press office Timpunza Mwansambo who was accused of drawing double salaries.
