The government of Malawi has condemned the brutal murder of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director of Corporate Services Issa Njauju whose body was discovered on Saturday after missing for two days.
In a statement from the Ministry of Information Tourism and culture signed by Kondwani Nankhumwa, Government said is doing whatever it can to track down perpetrators of the shocking murder.
“The Malawi Police Service is working around the clock to find the real truth of the matter. Therefore, the public is hereby being assured that perpetrators of this heinous act will be found and be brought to book. The criminals can run, but not hide,” read in part the statement.
Nankhumwa also urged Malawians to refrain from making provoking speculations on the death of Njauju.
“The Malawi Police Service has opened investigations into this tragic death. Government, and all law abiding citizens, will therefore wait for the findings of these professional investigations to take an informed stand on the matter.
“To this effect, the general public is being asked to refrain from making wild speculations which are deeply hurting the bereaved family and colleagues at the ACB who have lost a dear friend, husband and father. Such a painful and tragic death must not be a treated as a source of propaganda by anyone,” said Nankhumwa.
Meanwhile, Government is appealing to the general public to assist the Police with relevant information that may lead to the apprehension of the criminals.
