President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed former Director of Malawi Investment Trade Centre (MITC) Robert Salama as new Ambassador to the newly established foreign embassy in Geneva.

Principal Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) Chinthu Phiri confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the local daily papers in the country [Nation Newspaper].

Before departing, Salama expected to be confirmed by Public Appointments Committee (PAC) of Parliament.

Salama is believed to be a relative to President Mutharika as he once witnesses and signed the marriage registers for the wedding of the president held at St Micheals and All Angels Church.
