Malawi Congress Party (MCP) top official Jodder Kanjere will be laid to rest this coming Saturday at his home village at Nanjiri in Lilongwe.
Kanjere who also contested for the presidency of MCP during the 2013 convention died on Wednesday this week after a short illness at City Centre clinic in Lilongwe.
Confirming the death, MCP’s Publicity Secretary Ezekiel Ching’oma said the party is shocked with the untimely death of Kanjere.
Ching’oma said Kanjere was not an ordinary politician but a long serving member of MCP who served in various cabinet portfolios during the late Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda’s rule including Deputy Minister of Works from 1990 to 1992.
Meanwhile MCP’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and other top officials will lead party followers in paying their last respect to late Kanjere on Saturday.
