President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has stood his ground, saying he will not step down as some quarters are advocating for.

Mutharika’s remarks come as reaction to calls from opposition Political Parties and Civil Society of Organisation (CSOs), accusing him of failing the nation.

Speaking during a political rally in Thyolo on Sunday, Mutharika accused those people advocating for his resignation saying they are doing that out of hatred.

Mutharika also challenged that there is no any opposition political party in the country that can defeat him in the 2019 general election.

“It is wishful thinking that I can lose elections,” said Mutharika.

Coming to the looming hunger in the country, President Mutharika assured Malawians that no one will die of hunger in the country as his government has started importing maize from Zambia.
