Death has been announced of Radio Islam Journalist Abdul Aziz Onile barely months after the death Daily Times and BBC correspondent Raphael Tenthani.
Aziz Onile passed away in the wee hours on Tuesday at Chiradzulu district hospital where he was admitted for meningitis.
Commenting on the death, MIJ reporter and presenter Mwai Mtumodzi described as shock over the untimely death of Onile.
“In 2006 when I joined Radio Islam newsroom as an internee reporter, my first assignment was to proof read a midday bulletin. Towards the end of the first story ii a bulletin I came across this statement: “From Mangochi our reporter Abdu-Aziz Onile reports” my first impression was that the editor Lameck Masina had made a mistake and it was supposed to read ” On line not Onile from Mangoci Abdul-aziz reports.
“well that was how i came to know my brother who i worked with for three years. i am saddened to hear that this friend of mine is no more. may his soul rest in peace,” wrote Mtumodzi on his official facebook page.
