Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that part of Matabwa market in Mzuzu has been gutted down by fire.
The fire is said to have started around 2am today Wednesday July 15, 2015 destroying second stream of the market where groceries are sold.
The market has three streams; the first stream is where clothes and farm items are sold, seconded by a stream where groceries are sold and lastly is the stream where second hand tyres are sold.
It is said that fire fighters arrived at the scene very late despite being informed earlier.
According to the eyewitness who rushed to the scene Happy Sambiri Ziba said although the fire has been contained, traders are shocked with the accident.
Meanwhile the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
