Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has asked the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to stop attacking the opposition and concentrate on solving the challenges rocking the country.
The call comes following remarks uttered by President Mutharika at a political rally in Thyolo directed to MCP’s President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, saying Chakwera only knew how to read bible verses and that his transformation to politics surprised him because men of God do not actually behave in such a manner.
As this was not enough, Mutharika said there is no any opposition political Party that can stop him from winning the forthcoming general election come 2019.
Speaking to the press in Lilongwe, MCP Publicity Secretary Jessie Kabwila said DPP is fond of attacking the opposition.
“They have to focus on how to improve the lives of Malawians not insulting other politicians because Malawians need results not insult.
“MCP or Chakwera does not castigate anybody he is an honorable man whose interest is to serve Malawians,” she said.
She further said that Opposition is there to provide check and balances.
