President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has been appointed as Champion of Trade Related aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) to ensure local manufacturing security in Least Developed Countries by UNAIDS.

United Nation (UN) and State House has confirmed of the appointment in a statement made to FaceofMalawi.

The statement further says Mutharika has also been appointed to the High Level Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunities chaired by former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Other members of the commission are the Prime Minister of Norway, the President of Chile, the President of Indonesia and the Director General of UNESCO.

Meanwhile President Mutharika has accepted the two appointments.

“It is with a deep sense of humility that I accept my appointment to two global institutions that seek to foster the growth and development of people across the world,” wrote Mutharika on his official facebook page.
