As condolence messages continue to trickle over the death of National Salvation Front (NASAF) President James Nyondo, Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that the remains of Nyondo will arrive in the country on Thursday.
Nyondo died on Friday last week at Steve Boko Hospital in South Africa after battling with lung cancer.
Speaking to FOM’s reporter, Nyondo’s close relative said the remains of late Nyondo will arrive in the country through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe.
Meanwhile information from State House indicates that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has declared that Government of Malawi will, through the High Commission in South Africa, cover the full costs of the repatriation of the body.
Nyondo, 47 was born in 1968 and is survived by wife and three Children.
In 2006, Mr Nyondo – a Lawyer by profession – completed his studies in the US and moved back to Malawi to launch an effort he called Servants of the Nation which aimed at mentoring local leaders to address the problems of their people.
He lost in the 2009 presidential elections on an independent ticket, and in 2014 he also contested in the same race but under the National Salvation Front where he got only 8600 hundred votes.
