Following speculations that the reality TV show will go on hold this year, M-net confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the show will, indeed, not take place this year.

Though the statement does not state for how long the continental version will be off our TV screens, it does clarify that regional counterparts – Big Brother Angola and Big Brother Mzansi – will still be produced.

“Big Brother continues to captivate audiences in each market in which it is produced, and the move to regionalize the show allows producers to re-evaluate the direction of the show,” he statement reads.

Late last year, the show hit a huge snag, after the venue where “Big Brother Africa Hotshots” was originally set to film caught fire a week before the season launched.
